About Me

My photo
Ellie P
I have always loved dance; to perform, choreograph and experience dance is the reason I get up in the mornings. I trained in ballet, modern and jazz as a teenager before going on to study contemporary dance at Demontfort University, from which I gained a 1st class BA Hons degree in 2011. In 2013 I went on to achieve an MA in Choreography from Trinity Laban. I have performed with companies such as Retina Youth Dance, ImCo and Donald Edwards and have worked as a dancer and collaborator with new choreographers such as Jennifer Grant and Rachel Johnson. I am also an aspiring choreographer, my current area of research being in making performance out of everyday life, and a keen dance writer, writing about every performance I see and new class I try. Through my studies and choreographic endeavours I have realised that dance is much more than just visually pleasing movement of the body. It is a feeling, a journey, an expression and an experience both for the performer and the audience. My own travels around the world have given me a new appreciation of diverse environments, cultures and experiences and have left me constantly wanting to explore new things, whether at home or away.
